Hard to believe that after being such an avid blogger that over the course of of 18 months I only managed six posts. Truthfully I took time off to just be a mom and enjoy my kiddos. With learning some time management, I am back to blogging!

For 2012, I am ready to get back to my roots. I loved promoting fellow artists, vintage lovers and crafters on my blog and writing about my own creative adventures. The goal is to feature 2-3 each week.

What inspires you? What gets your creative juices flowing. For me it is my family.

My husband is one of my biggest supporters . My little ones get me going just by those sweet little smiles. My two year old is quite creative herself!

After having our little boy in November, I have been slow to get back into the creative process. It is back now! I am painting and taking photographs galore. I can't wait to share them with you all. Feel free to share your new work too!

A Time for Thanksgiving...

I sit here so amazed at all that I have to be thankful for. I am blessed with a great husband and two awesome children. Children that we weren't sure we would ever have. As my husband and I were up with our two week old son and our two year old daughter with both crying at midnight last night, I had a thought " I am truly thankful to hear these cries" Hearing those cries means that I have the blessing of these little miracles in my life. I don't know if dealing with infertility makes one that more grateful for these angels. I just can't be more thankful for my family.

I also am thankful for blessing others have been given. My best friend is holding twins (a baby boy and girl) in her arms this Thanksgiving. Her husband (my husbands best friend) and she are going to be awesome parents. They have waited along time for this and am so happy that they have this joy in their lives now:)

Thank goodness for our family and friends. You all bless our lives in way you don't even know. Even if we don't see each other every day, the blessings are still there.

Thank goodness for our soldiers. Without them, we wouldn't be experiencing this wonderful freedom and all the good things that come with it.

I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving and are able to share it with some of the special people in your lives.

What got you started selling Vintage?

I began selling vintage items back in 1998 on ebay. By that point, I had already been buying vintage items for myself for years. I was finding more items than I could possibly ever need, but couldn't resist passing up. I would see things and think, "someone would really love this", and it really just started there. I knew I had a knack for finding the beauty in otherwise forgotten items. So funretro was born! When I discovered Etsy, well, that was a whole new experience for me. I now had the ability to become part of something that felt so different. So communal. I always knew that one day I would have a big shop. I guess I always thought that there would be a physical space to go along with it. Etsy completely changed my mind about that!

What are your hobbies?

Going to estate sales has been a long time hobby of mine, probably for over 15 years now. I also love photography (my own and others), going on long drives anywhere (and sometimes nowhere in particular), and gardening. Of course, all of this is trumped by a long, lazy afternoon in bed with my two dogs, Casey and Brodie!

Favorite items from your shop?

This is the hardest question because I often like (and want!) many of the things I add to my shop! I am a diehard lover of industrial items (as most can tell). One of my favorites at the moment is the Wooden and Metal Plane http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41591018. That plane is to die for, in my opinion! The Wooden Apothecary Box is also a favorite http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41071323 and I am secretly hoping it doesn't sell so I don't feel guilty about keeping it for myself!

It's Been Far Too Long!

It is so hard to believe it has been five months since my last post! Where has time gone? I guess I should get you caught up.

First of all there is a new development in my life pictured to the left:)

He is due to arrive by November 8th. We are very excited as is the rest of our family and friends. This is truly a blessing from God.

During the first few months of my pregnancy I haven't been as active online. So that explains the largest part of my absence.

Speaking of the baby...we haven't settled on a name yet. I welcome any suggestions from my readers!

This is so true! There is such a variety of hand created items in this shop. From art, to baby items, to hand forged knives.

"We are a husband and wife team. I am an artist, fashion designer and general crafter. Adam makes hand forged knives and beautiful jewelry. I have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember and I have a degree in fashion design. You may not know that by looking at our shop since we do not have much in the way of clothing, but I do custom clothing orders. Adam took a knife making class and that is when he started forging knives, he does really beautiful work. We started selling on etsy shortly after my daughter autumn was born (she is 15 mo now) . I thought about it for a very long time before we opened our shop. Selling on etsy has been an excellent experience. I have made some great friends, and I am always surprised that we actually sell things!

I also play Roller Derby and Adam is a referee. We also enjoy rock climbing and hiking. I also love biking.

As I browsed around, I was in awe of what I found! Erica's paintings and art are fantastic. Then one discovers all the cute baby items she makes. Each piece is so special. Denise takes such care with every detail. I was truly in awe as I browsed her shop. I would think I had found my favorite and then I would see another of her beautiful creations!

Let's get to know her a bit better in her own words:

"I have been walking beaches and collecting things since I was a little girl. I used to pick up stones and shells - if only I had known then that the Great Lakes and oceans produce these beautiful gems called mermaids’ tears. What a collection I could have had! I discovered mermaids’ tears, better known as sea glass, while walking the beaches of South Florida ten years ago after my 20 year long marriage ended. During those long walks, I picked up sea glass while I talked to God, fascinating by the beauty and mystery of the frosty gems.

Creating and crafting is a way of life for me. So it wasn’t long before I decided that I needed to design something with my quickly growing collection. I was inspired to start my business by my loving and creative mom, Joyce, the JOY in JOYful D*Sign. I hope she’s really proud of the work I’m doing! Although she is gone, her love and inspiration live on in my work. My favorite medium is sea glass and I am obsessed with dragonflies which often land in my work.

My style is light and airy - you won't find anything overbearing or overstated in my shop. I want the beauty of the sea glass to speak for itself. I gravitate toward the colors of the ocean so you will see lots of blues, greens and aquas. But I don't discriminate - I love COLOR! I was fascinated by the Crayola 64 Box of Crayons when I was a kid. If you don't see a color combination you like - contact me and we can design it together!

Long walks on the beach hunting for sea glass are always a must – for relaxation and to shore up the supplies so I can keep the creations coming. My sea glass is all authentic and unaltered, found along the coasts of South Florida, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Canada, and England. Major thanks to my boyfriend, Tim, who hunts with me (and on his own sometimes) and who does all the drilling for my projects! When I’m not making jewelry or some other hand beaded creation - my other specialty is kaleidoscopes, I love to knit, crochet, cross stitch, and enjoy my 16 year old puppy, Peanut."

There are so many beautiful creations in Denise's shop, it is hard to choose a favorite! The Victorian Pearl Dragonfly earrings are gorgeous! The Victorian Valentine red and white sea glass necklace is also a stunner! It is so dainty and feminine. I could go on and on!

Cappy Sue

It's been a while since I have had a feature, but this one is a gem:)

Cappy Sue is an artist. Truly an artist. She has an eye for the unusual. Cappy also has an eye for beauty that most wouldn't catch at first glance. I am amazed at her creative spirit.

Let's get to know her in her own words:

"I am 31 and happily married. All my kids are the furry kind. I create my work mostly from my dreaming which I have every night and are very vivid. Most would think of them as nightmares but for me I find inspiration there.

I love to laugh more than any thing so often my work takes a comical turn trying to spread that laughter.

My hobbies are a little odd to. I spend my free time reading random weird books and listening to music. My music is any thing from 1920s rare recordings of Shine on Harvest Moon to AC/DC to Adele truly I have yet to find a kind of music I don't like. Other than that I have little collections my current favorites are Mary statues in all sizes from the 3 inch plastic to a foot tall concrete. I am working on a spot for them all in my art cave.

I have discovered a wonderful jewelry shop with top quality items at truly affordable prices! BusyBeadLady is a shop full of treasures!

Let's find out some more about the owner:

"It was 1984 when I first met my husband.

Sometime in the next year, my sister-in-law called to say she would like to visit us. I had never met any of my husband's relatives, had not even talked to them on the phone. So I scrubbed the house during the day and lost sleep worrying at night. Would I like her? Would we have anything in common?

She arrived and I liked her immediately. She and my husband reminisced, I politely listened and learned all I could about this man I had come to love. Then he went to bed! She and I talked till 3:00AM!

The next day, as we talked more, she went to her luggage and removed a needle, some thread and all these tiny beads which I later learned were seed beads.

That was the day I found another love. It has been a slow, sweet and obsessive romance with the beads. A twisted, crimped up necklace strung on fishing wire, findings that turn your neck green, stringing a bracelet only to find I didn't use enough thread! Stalking beads wherever I could find them. Selling at craft shows in the rain. Craft shows in the wind. Craft shows in the heat.

But all these years later, I still love to sit in my work room and learn new things, adapt new ideas, find new materials and bead."

I love all her jewelry but chose three different items for this feature. First there is the Teal Heart Pendant. It is a delicate and really feminine necklace. The color is stunning. A glass heart pendant dangles from a gold tone bail.

Next the Vintage Pop Art earrings caught my eye. These are post earrings. They are made of brass and have enamel painting on the front. They are very pop art, as we would have said in the 60's. Each drop piece is quite different from each other, but they go together in a fun way.

Lastly there is the Daisy Yellow Nugget Bracelet. It looks like nuggets of sunshine to me. This bracelet is sure to brighten up your day!

My Little Girl is One!

We just recently we celebrated my daughter, Mallory's, 1st birthday! There was chocolate, funfetti, and strawberry cake and cupcakes. We had punch and ice cream. There was a lot of little ones and grown ups too!

The party was beautiful. Mostly in part to the wonderful Sugar-n- Spice vintage inspired decorations I purchased from SendACelebration! Cheryl makes the greatest party decorations. SendACelebration has tons of beautiful custom birthday hats and decorations. If you need a package, Cheryl can do it. My package included the Happy Birthday Mallory banner, cupcake toppers, blowers, hats, treat bags, balloons, wall hangings, balloons, table confetti...The works! I have discovered a shop with the most awesome dolls and sock creatures! Swiedebie is wonderful! Every item is one of a kind!

I would like to introduce you to the shop owner, here is a bit about her in her own words:

"My name is Swee, I am a Singaporean, a fashion designer and a stay at-home-mom living in The Netherlands. I like to execute my ideas and love on things I create for my family, home and currently my sock monsters.

Last year during the winter, I decided I do not want to sit at home and just lay my hands on household chores and baby, so I started making dolls of all kinds. I experimented with a lot fabrics I have in mind. Then I came about using socks, which are our usual almost daily fashion need, to produce them into MONSTER dolls. I played with their faces, expressions, their characters, and even thought of giving them adorable names, which children and collectors can relate to.

I began designing my monsters in basic shapes and tested the local demand in The Netherlands. Many Dutch are curious and amazed the socks can be produced into an interesting end product. From there on, I characterized my own monsters, played with more colours, and created stories for each of them.

Come to think of it, if I do not make dolls now, I will probably be a freelance bridal designer or a freelance fashion designer/stylist, which I used to do before I become a mother. :)

I love movies. Before I was expecting my daughter, I used to go to the cinemas in Singapore twice a week. I was a movie fan. However, my child’s arrival kept me busy and I enjoyed my new pastime with her. Now, I catch movies in the television when occasionally they showcase some dated ones. I love romantic and comedy movies. There are so many movies I love, and I shall make do with these two. 'The Holiday' starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law (Oh my… he's cute!), Kate Winslet (she is a natural) and Jack Black. The next one I can remember loving is watching Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean, where I love this actor’s hidden dark comedy acts.

My future personal plan is to establish myself in my Dutch, my business degree, and of course, to travel to many countries (so I can buy supplies… ;P), and to watch my daughter grow into a fine young lady of who she is.

I love OOAK handmade things. There are so many wonderful artists in the world and so many favourites. One of my favourites I will like to share is Kreativlink - www.kreativlink.etsy.com. She is very unique and versatile in her journal designs. I am a huge fan of hers, and got my very first Etsy purchase of her red suede leather journal. I made a sock monster (inspired by her works) for a team's challenge, here you can see my work - http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=31790666#.

Also, I love the works of Ayca, from Ayawedding - http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7863487. Her works are delicate and pretty, reminds me of the time when I used to work in the bridal industry back in Singapore. She is also a very lovely person with a beautiful heart and her beauty is reflected on her works."

With so much creativity within this shop, it is hard to pick three favorites. I managed to do so though, so here goes. The Elena Babushka Plush is adorable! Elena is a lovely little Babushka made out of black linen added with an adorable piece of Japanese linen. Her eyes are made of felt and detailed with a bubbly watery feel to it. She is perfect for people of all ages!

The Louie Doopie is a mini, but packs much personality! His vivid red and white clothing and gold hair are real attention grabbers. He is about the size of your palm. So cute!

Lastly, there is Medoosee! She was inspired by Medusa. Made of bright pink socks, she is sure to be a favorite of many.

"Grandma Copeland taught me the fine art of crochet when I was 10, and I have been "hooked" ever since. Doing the math, it appears that I have been at it for over 75% of my life! Zoiks!

Crocheting with different materials and textures of string and yarn, and matching or combining them with strips of unique fabrics really gets my creative juices flowing!

I have always had a love affair with vintage linens, and now I have an opportunity to reinvent some of my very imperfect old treasures while maintaining their original beauty. Please note that no intact vintage linens are ever harmed in the making of my bowls, bags, and eclectica!

Attention to detail (including an OCD-like perfectionism in every stitch!) is my specialty."

Obviously Jennie has great taste and great skill at her craft! I found a few favorites too! The Infant Nest looks awesome! The upcycled snuggle nest™ is super soft, sturdy, and versatile; it stretches to fit larger babies, and *scrunches* for the smaller peanuts. It can be used inside out for a different look, and the ends can easily be smoothed in for a more rounded look. This is a terrific photography prop!

Her Star Ornaments are classics! I love the ones in the cottage colors! The robin's egg blue, pink and ecru give a sweet punch of color! Stars measure 2.5" point to point, with an additional length of cotton added for hanging.

The Sheet scarf is so unique! This was the first time for me to see these! The scarf is made from a cotton jersey knit bed sheet! This is wonderful upcycling! The blue color is so pretty too!

Punkscrapper's Shop is wonderful! She makes everything from felt coffee cozies to custom artwork.

I asked Julie to tell us a little more about herself, this was her response:

"I have always loved to do artistic stuff, as kids my sister and I didn't have a tv and so we spent our afternoons drawing, painting, putting on plays/skits and creating forts...etc. My sister was my first and best art teacher ;)

I wanted to be a fashion designer all throughout jr high and high school but when it came right down to it...I didn't do real well in home economics! Im really not a gifted seamstress! So I studied the next best thing...psychology! Haha! I really loved college but missed out on the artistic side of things. I have always wanted to do my artwork as my full time job. When I met and married my husband he encouraged me to take a leap of faith and do etsy. He has been my greatest encourager! Long story short(er) here I am...a starving artist working hard and loving every single second of it!

I draw inspiration from a lot of things...my family and friends are an ongoing source as well as many of the 'greats' in literature and film... Tim Burton, Roald Dahl, Eyvind Earle and Mary Blair (Disney artists from the 50s), Edward Gorey, Lewis Carroll...and the list could go on and on and on! I love the mixture of whimsy and darkness that many of these talented artists/authors/etc mastered!

I love treasure hunting at thrift and vintage stores! My husband and I do this often! I love music and catch concerts as often as we can afford it (my favorite band is U2)! I enjoy drawing so much because it gives me a chance to create my own little world...so I would have to say that my drawings in my shop are my favorite items...right now probably the What's Done is Done print and the Candy Girls series of prints."

I love the items in her shop! I actually own one of her original drawings and a set of prints! The drawing I own is the Gumdrop Girl from her Candy Girls series. It reminds me of sweets, Halloween, and Edward Scissorhands all in one! Her artwork is awesome!

Julie's feltwork items are terrific also. She makes all different themes of felt coffee cozies and felt embellished tea towels. My favorite cozies right now are the Holiday ones. You have a choice of five designs: a reindeer, a star, an ornament, holly, or a tree. These dress up your coffee cup nicely!

My favorite set of tea towels are her Jack Skellington ones. I love Nightmare before Christmas!
Jack Skellington's face just jumps off those black towels! She has other seasonal ones also.

Leslie's work is wonderful. I love all her paintings! I did select a few to showcase for this feature though. The Ballerina Girls is a very warm and colorful painting. To me it captures a moment of anticipation of waiting to dance perfectly! The young ballerinas look adorable in their bows and matching tutus!

The Dalmatian Puppies is a great painting! She highlighted the cuteness of the little pups just right! Makes you want to take the puppies and the painting home!:) I love the softness of the puppies and their bed and the dark blue background makes them stand out even more!

I love architecture. The Up North painting is a wonderful display of a beautiful Victorian style home. The yellow is so cheerful and the landscape of greenery and flowers just pops off the paper.

"I have always loved to craft, and enjoy trying new techniques. I am a stay at home mom to 5 lovely children ranging in age from 1-15. Between my children, my crafting, and the elementary PTO (where I am Vice President), I am just about always busy!
All the woodworking is done by my husband, when he is not busy with his "real" job, or his side businesses (yes, he has more than one!).
The jewelry is made by my mother-in-law. She is a very talented artist in many areas, but jewelry is the only one of her talents we've been able to convince her to try to sell some of her work.

My favorite item would have to be the black and green ring sling! My personal ring sling saved my sanity with my last child, so I have a special fondness for them, and this particular turned out so pretty! I love that the pocket is nearly invisible, even when you know it is there!"

There is so much to choose from in the Crafted By Design shop. There is such a wide array of different items. The woodcraft item that caught my attention was the Wood Business Card Holder. It is made with 2 contrasting hardwoods (Paduak and Maple). It easily holds 25 business cards. They can be carried in a pocket or bag while closed, but can also be opened and placed on a desk or table for easy access. Each business card hold is made to order. This is a very attractive piece!

There are so many great crochet items too. My favorite is the Pumpkin Hat. It is adorable! The hat comes adorned with crocheted green stem, vines and leaf. The brim can be rolled down to give a little more growing room, or to cover the ears in icy weather. It is available in a wide selection of sizes. This little hat is perfect for Halloween or just festive for the Fall season!

Sarah's sculptures are beautiful! My favorite is Dotty the Pink Baby Dragon. She's soft pearly pink with golden spots and spikes, has glossy black hematite eyes, and is curled protectively around a bright pink vintage glass gem. Every dragon needs a shiny, after all! She measures about 2 1/2 x 2 inches around and only about 1 1/2 inch to the tip of her ears from the ground. She's made of durable unpainted polymer clay, and sealed for protection and a glossy finish.

Prism Moon Designs features many pieces of handmade wire art jewelry. My favorites are the Blush Necklace and the Twinkle Amethyst Earrings. The Blush Necklace is a smooth oval of subtly crackled fire agate surrounded by swirls of gold plated artistic wire and accented with tiny fire polished glass beads. A truly gorgeous necklace! Amethyst is one of my favorite stones, so the Twinkle Amethyst Earrings were sure to get my attention! The earrings feature lovely violet amethyst rounds that are suspended in swirls of silver plated artistic wire, accented with matching sparkling crystals.

Teresa's Quilts

I have found a very talented quilter on Etsy. Teresasquilts is a must see quilt shop! Each of her creations has such detail!

I asked Teresa to tell us a little about herself, this was her response:

"My passion is quilting. I have two wonderful grandchildren and love to sew for them. I also like to give quilts to friends and family. The only reason I sell my work is to support my "habit" of sewing for others.

My favorite item is "Toss the Bouquet". That quilt was a challenge for me, so I am very pleased that I was able to complete it.

I also do one-of-a-kind "photo memory quilts". They are great family treasures that allow me to make personal connections, and of course are fun for me to make. Creating a family heirloom is an extremely meaningful experience and gives me satisfaction beyond words."

With so many beautiful creations, it was very hard to narrow it down to three favorites! The Toss the Bouquet is one of Teresa and my favorites! That is one gorgeous quilt! It is a terrific pattern and the colors all work so well together. This quilt fits a queen or king size bed. It features a prairie points border that adds that special extra detail. The back is handsewn and high-loft batting is used to add extra thickness and comfort.

Another quilt that caught my eye was the Purple Passion. Teresa used beautiful shades of purple and gold for this one. The framing of the center is outlined with gold ribbon. The binding is done in gold satin. It has been machine pieced and quilted with coordinating purple thread. The Purple Passion has an oriental theme. It is made to fit a full size bed.

The quilted wall hangings from Teresasquilts are a must see too! The Budding Beauty is my favorite. It features a dark background, an earth tone vase with a bright cheery bouquet of flowers. It also features prairie points for part of it's framing.

With all the wonderful scents it's hard to choose just a few items! The Pomegranate Mango Swirl Soap caught my attention just by it's appearance! It is hand rolled, so no two are alike! The smell of pomegranate and mango just seems like a warm summer day! The beautiful shades of orange and pink are eye catching too!

The Sandlewood Fleur De Leis soap is made with goats milk. It is another of LostRiverRags beautiful soaps. These soaps are not only wonderfully scented but are really great to look at! This soap is a very soft, musky, earthy scent. All bars of soap come with a silky matching tie and an official Lost River Rags and CandleLights hang tag with complete ingredients listed inside. On the inside left of the tag there is a place where you can write who its To and whom its From. A GREAT GIFT IDEA!

LostRiverRags also has a line of soy candle. The Hot Apple Pie would have to be my favorite of these! There just something about the comfort of smelling fresh apples baking! There are many , many scents to choose from. They are in a special flat mason jar.

First, let's get to know Victoria a little better. I asked her to tell the readers a little about herself, and this was her response:

"I started creating jewelry about 3-4 years ago, when I wanted a very specific piece, and could not find it anywhere! I eventually decided that it "couldn't be that hard, right?" One of my favorite pieces from Victoria's shop is also one of her favorites. The Elven Viking Pendant and Chain is truly beautiful. It is reminiscent of the Evenstar pendant, from Lord of the Rings, but with it's own flair. Looped and swirled silver tone wire forms the base, in a basic "V" shape, then additional swirls are added all along the length of it. Inside the center loops of wire are placed several little glass beads, to add a drop of color and visual interest. It would make a wonderful gift!

The Whisp of Imagination Elven Ring is wonderful. Silver tone wire has been carefully wrapped into a circle, wound about with wire of a finer gauge, twisted, wrapped and detailed. Swirls and two coordinating beads add color and character.

The Assym style Dance Dress is a must see. It is an one of a kind outfit by Victoria Dunnaway for StarGazingWoodElf. The two piece set includes a handkerchief skirt and a Assym cut halter style top. This set is beautiful, dainty, and feminine. You just have to see it!

I own a bracelet made by Victoria. It is stunning and is made with the utmost care and skill. It has become one of my favorite bracelets!

The vintage Pickle Caster caught my attention. It is beautiful! It has a wonderful amber pattern glass insert. The fans both open and closed accent the top. The tongs are highly decorated as well with bird foot ends. Circa. 1870 - 1890

The Vintage 1970's Men's Hawaiian Shirt is in near mint condition! The fabric is a great print. This is one great find!

Runway Crochet is a wonderful shop on Etsy. So many treasures to find! The owner Vickey is one of the kindest, most sincere people you will ever meet. She is all about helping others! I am truly blessed to have met her!

Let's get to know this wonderful lady better! Here is an excerpt from her shop profile:

"What kid didn't toy with the idea of fashion design using paper dolls by tracing them and creating fashions out of different papers, crayons, markers, pencils and a pair of scissors? I sure did but, when it came to going off to college, fashion was not one of the subjects I studied. As the matter of fact, my high school sweetheart accused me of not being "in style" at the time. I guess some men do pay attention to those sort of things more than you'd think.

It wasn't until a few years after I graduated that I actually started to teach myself how to crochet along with learning a few other crafts and needle arts. A gift from my father, Reader's Digest Guide to Needlework was the book that started it all! Besides that, there are so many wonderful books from published crochet designers out there with so many gorgeous things to drool over – I can't imagine not wanting to crochet some of them, and create a few original designs of my own. Otherwise, I'd be bored stupid!

It’s fairly easy but, time consuming to make enough “plarn” (combo plastic + yarn) to make a large shoulder tote like the one in my shop (about 50 or more bags) However, I save all of my bags. I’m a horrible pack rat saving everything and anything I think I might be able to use to make something with! My late grandmoms, who lived through the Great Depression, were a HUGE influence on me. So glad I could spend the time with them that I did while they were here.

I just wish I was talented enough to create something really original! Most everything I do create or design is made based on something I’ve seen or a combination of things I've seen. The tote is based on a leather bag I carry everywhere. The baby doll tunic is based on a favorite cloth top I had in high school. Nothing really unique here. But, I keep trying, hoping, crocheting and crafting! Got to find that niche to be successful on Etsy. Would love to quit my day job but that’s really pie in the sky!!! LOL! I’m just happy the good Lord gave me the ability to learn how to do some of this stuff. It’s fun, it takes my mind off of any troubles, and I really love to create these things."

Vickey is too modest in my opinion. Her creations are beautiful! The Circle Lace Vest II is awesome. The colors are gorgeous! The blues, pinks, purples, and yellows are real eye catchers! So feminine!

The Large Shoulder Tote bag is another terrific find. It is completely made from white, black and red plastic grocery bags. A great example of upcycling!

Vickey also sells some wonderful vintage dolls. The Vintage Doll from Scotland is one of my favorites! This vintage hard plastic doll was purchased in Scotland in the 1960's. It stands about 11 inches tall with blonde braids, hand painted facial features, chubby cheeks and blue sleep eyes. The costume consists of plaid kilt and scarf, black velvet jacket with ruffled shirt underneath, boots and hat. She is adorable!

The KillerB's is an awesome jewelry shop I just discovered on Etsy. Every item is handmade by Christine and one of a kind!

With so many one of a kind creations, it's hard to pick a favorite! The Alka Seltzer Necklace features a vintage ad from 1953 for Speedy Alka-Seltzer effervescent tablets. This is an ad for Alka-Seltzer so naturally the pendant is accompanied by a hot dog charm, frying eggs charm and a Chinese takeout container charm. Who thought that something to do with Alka Seltzer could be so pretty? This is a clever use of charms and advertisement. I love it!

I love Johnny Cash, so the Johnny Cash Concert Poster necklace was a neat find. This wonderful necklace features a poster for a Johnny Cash concert held October 2, 1997 with special guest June Carter Cash. It is accented with a horseshoe charm and a silver bead.

I don't have any tattoos myself, but I love the Tattooed Lady Retro Charm Bracelet! This gorgeous charm bracelet features six small picture pendants with traditional tattoo images alongside traditional tattoo charms. This bracelet is finished off with Swarovski crystals. You just have to see it!

All the books are hand bound by Sally. The stamps are carved by her husband from his original drawings.

"Right now it's the sketchbooks with tie. I am always looking for a new twist to the traditional, and still be very functional. I like the thought of people actually using these journals & sketchbooks rather than having them collect dust. My husband has many journals that he kept of his artwork from college and it's nice to go through those and see how far he's come in his artwork.

Green Attic Vintage features birch bark lamp shades, toothbrush rag rugs, vintage and rare books, kids books and magazines, and vintage collectibles. There is lots to see and discover in this shop!

First, let's get some background on Tita, the shop owner. I asked her to tell us a little about herself and this was her response and an excerpt from her profile bio:

"In the summer, my sister and I have an interesting life on an island in the north woods of Minnesota. So far this year, we have had encounters with two bears, a deer swimming right in front of the porch, a family of beavers, a big brown rabbit, lots of birds, and two large snakes that live in the rocks by the house. We have trained the eagles to come to a rock in front of the house; when they see the kayak, they know that fish trimmings are coming and they usually fly to the rock right away! I asked the local eagle expert and he said eagles indeed can learn things like this rather quickly; we have been doing this for a number of years now. You can be as close as about 20 feet from them. It does make it interesting trying to mail things I have sold if the winds are bad and I can't get across the lake to the post office.

We are two sisters who are retired school teachers and avid re-users and recyclers for the past 45 years! We are preparing to move to smaller retirement places, so you will find antiques and collectibles which have been in our family for many years. We also love to discover great old things to pass along to people who appreciate well made vintage. Remember the days when you could get things made in the USA? Buying vintage, you still can!

We like to craft things out of birch bark, and you will find lampshades and other items crafted from trees felled by beavers in the north woods. No trees are killed to make our items.

We believe in saving our planet by buying green, buying vintage, shipping with recycled material whenever we can, and living lightly on the earth."

Green Attic Vintage has some really cool copies of Jack and Jill Magazine. They have five copies from 1946! I've included a picture of the one "Daddy Home from the War".

The Antique Sternauware ceramic tray with four coasters is so unique! This comes from Tita's grandmother's cabin in the North Country. She started cottaging in 1916 and enjoyed many many happy summers in the cottage on the lake. Time has come for Tita and her sister to find new homes for some of the many things that have been in the family for decades. The hand painted vintage trinket box is also a wonderful find! It was made in Japan and features a beautiful floral pattern.

Happy Grandparent's Day! Hope all the Grandpas, PawPaws, Nanas, Gram Grams, Grammies, Pops, and Grannies have a wonderful day!

I just love this photo of my maternal grandparents, Ocie and Dorothy ( I called them Papa Bear and Mama Bear. This photo was taken in 1946. Both are deceased now. I miss them so much! My paternal grandparents, Clovis and Bonnie(PawPaw and Mawmaw), are also deceased. Thinking about them all the time, but especially today!

My husband has one grandparent still living. An active 77 year old name Ruby. We are so blessed to have her in our lives. I didn't get to know his Grandpa, but dearly love his Granny and Pappaw.

My little girl has the best grandparents! She loves her PawPaw and Nana and her Grammi and Pop! She has lots of other she has "adopted" also. :)

Not just today, but everyday we should cherish those loved ones in our lives!

Let's get to know Jen, the owner, better. I asked her to give some background on her and her shop, this was her response:

"I'm 33 years old and live in Manhattan, Kansas with loving and very supportive husband, Rusty. We will celebrate our first wedding anniversary at the end of October. :) We also share our home with our 3 year-old Bluetick Coonhound, Blaster.

I've been a creative soul for as long as I can remember. My first art form was music. My mom alwasy told stories about how I would tap my foot and keep tempo with music that played on the radio. I don't remember this, so it had to be before my earliest memories. I started playing the French Horn in 5th grade and continued playing for the next 15 years. I enjoyed writing stories and poems in grade school. I also enjoyed reading books and magazines and watching shows revolving around interior design and decorating. By high school, I was heavily involved in instrumental music, theatre, musicals, and forensics. After high school, I attended college for a few years. I continued playing the Horn for a few more years after that. By 19, I had already started designing web sites. In doing so, I became more acquainted with digital illustration and photo rendering software. Remember Photoshop 4.0? That was my introduction to visual creativity!

I had trouble finding my niche, so I quit school and entered the work force. At this point, I was developing a web site for a locally owned book store. It was there that I took advantage of the art classes offered through the store. Through the classes, I learned that I liked working with grungy color and texture, no matter what the media was. I continued working at the store for a few more years before moving on. My next job was at a locally owned newspaper in a nearby town. The web design experience was very helpful, but learning the print side of design had an entirely different set of rules. It was at this job I quickly gained a different aspect to my personal aesthetic - clean shapes and lines! Interestingly enough, any combination of grungy colors, grungy textures, and clean lines do find their way into my items today!

There are a couple of different versions of the story of how I got into card making. My version of the story is this - card making started as a necessity. When Rusty and I were planning our wedding, we really didn't find any invitations or stationery that jived well with our personal tastes. I bought some card making magazines and did a little Googling to see what DIY stationery other brides were doing. I had some background in painting, drawing, mixed media, print publishing, web design, and digital art. It just made sense to me that I make our stationery instead of searching for stationery I'd never find. After that, I spent the next several months making everything by hand! The save the dates, invitations, programs, place cards, table numbers, and escort cards. I received so much great feedback from our wedding guests that after the wedding, I just continued to make cards."

I found some I was fond of too! The Haunting Halloween Sentiments Accordion is awesome! It is just layers and layers of Halloween delight! The Favorite Recipes Black Chipboard Album is another great find. This recipe album has black chipboard covers with a coordinating red, black, green, cream, and white medallion on the front. The Favorite Recipes graphic is stamped with black ink, embossed with clear embossing powder, and colored with Prismacolor Art Markers.The perimeter of the front cover is decorated with faux white stitching. Coordinating stitched grosgrain ribbon adorns the silver binder rings, which open easily for the addition of more pages. A great card for any occasion is the Fly Colorful Bird Card is great! It can be used for any reason. It is a very fun and colorful card!

RemindersOfThePast is an awesome vintage shop. It has some of the most beautiful vintage formal wear that I have seen. Natalie also carries vintage home decor, linen, supplies and much more.

I asked Natalie to tell us about herself, here is her response:

"I consider myself to be an "old soul" and love anything "well loved". I often times conjure up a story in my mind of where some of my listings came from and what stories they could tell.

I like to think that my shop is where someone can stroll through an open flea market while in the comfort of their own home and that they might find something that would bring a memory to their mind or smile to their face. That would make me very happy.

I also have a second shop - Willows Nest - where I sell my handmade primitive pieces."

It took me a while to browse through all of Natalie's beautiful items. Two formal dresses caught my eye very quickly! The first just says 1980's all the way! Although it dates back to the 50's and 60's. I would refer to it as the "Pretty in Pink" Dress. It reminds me so much of the one Molly Ringwald wore in that movie. Just lots of pretty cotton candy pink material and ruffles! The Black and Red Ball Gown is truly amazing! It looks brand new! The gown is black with large red flocked polka dots. The polka dots are all over the dress, front, back and sleeves. The skirt is full, flowing and reaches to the floor. There are 4 layers - the top layer is soft tulle netting with the red polka dots and has approximately 13" of ruffle at the bottom. The second layer is also tulle but has no polka dots. The third layer is taffeta and the 4th layer is a crinoline type netting. This dress is gorgeous! A must see!

The Johnson Brothers Bread and Butter set of 4 plates is a great find also!These plates were made in England and have a lovely pattern that's called "Hearts & Flowers". There is a folk art man and woman holding hands surrounded by hearts and flowers.

The Magic Lantern Glass Slide title "Ten Nights Bar Room" is a very unusual find. First I say it's unusual because of the artwork, second its from the late 1800's! Next is the Ketcham & McDougall 1940s metal Retractable Watch Chain pin pendant. The watch is by Caravelle - it is a wind up. It has a unique look to it, not like ordinary pocket watches. The Man in the Moon Marine pin is cool find! It features the moon with a sly smile on his face, a sleek sail boat & waves under the ship with two palm trees - and a brass Marines WWII shield on it. The detail on it is amazing. I had never seen one of these pins before now. Lastly, I have admired cameos my whole life. Loved the cameo jewelry my mother and grandmother wore. When I saw the 14k Cameo ring in Anna's shop, it made me smile. The ring features a carved Cameo that is light orange set in the center of Art Deco style design setting. A very beautiful classic piece of jewerly. Anna also has a other wonderful cameo pieces.

My late grandmother was an avid quilter. She did beautiful work. I have found a shop that features beautiful quilted works, felting and knitted items.

"My mom and grandmother were both wonderful seamstresses. There wasn't anything they couldn't make or alter. I have inhereted all the quilts from generations gone by. Because of finances they never got into the intricate quilting, but I have 2 pieces that are probably from my great grandmother that are very interesting. I really think it is an art from the soul, but then maybe others think that about there art as well. I know most pieces are an emotional experience for me. The Courthouse Steps Patchwork Quilt is the item that led me Becky's shop. The quilt measures 85" X 67". It features a multitude of pretty colors and wonderful fabric prints. The quilting on the piece is Baptist Fan. The back is also quilted. It is a very beautiful quilt!

Quiltedbabe also features many other items other than quilts. The Glitzy Silver/Grey Scarf is one of a kind. Made from glitter yarn, this scarf measures 42" long X 4 1/2" wide. It is adorned with heart, butterfly and star for a unique effect. This scarf would be great for girls young and old! Becky also has many quilted holiday items in her shop. Her Scrappy Christmas stockings are very festive and would be a great addition to anyone's holiday decor.

I asked Lata to tell us a little more about her shop and what were some of her favorite products she makes. This was her response:

"I'd have a hard time picking my favorite item, primarily because I try out everything first, and only list my favorites, and my family/friends favorites :-). If I were to narrow it down, I'd say these little slider tins with lip balm, maybe, since the tins are so retro and sweet, and the lip balm is the final result of much tweaking to get just the right balance of creaminess and providing long lasting protection for your lips.

Another favorite is my body butter, made with shea butter. Ever since I discovered shea butter, Chicago winters got just a bit more bearable :-) and I now use it in many of my products."

Lata makes her products in small batches to provide the utmost freshness. The shelf life for her all natural products is shorter than commercial products loaded with heavy duty preservatives. She uses the finest ingredients she can find; such as pure Shea butter, fresh honey from her local beekeepers and extra virgin olive oil from Italy. She buys organic and sustainable supplies wherever she can. Most products are completely vegan; the few exceptions that are not vegan because of the addition of goat's milk, honey or beeswax, are still vegetarian.

Every listing in Lata's store sounds great! The Cherry Gift Basket with Cherry Almond soap and body butter sounds heavenly! The Mint Chocolate Body Scrub had hidden attributes that I didn't know about! Did you know that chocolate is loaded with anti-aging vitamins and minerals, especially dark chocolate. I think every vintage lover/collector has some Pyrex. Marsha has the coolest set of Nesting Bowls in a cool green color called Verde. The color is very 1960's. There are four different sizes. I felt like I had discovered a beautiful treasure when I saw the Vintage Tumbled Garnet Brooch. It is a pretty, yet unusual piece. I love cookbooks, I love books, so my last choice was a no brainer. The "Meals of Many Lands" children's cookbook is one I had never seen before now. There are full menus from China, Scandinavia, Italy, Russia, Mexico and America. It also tells children how to set a table. This is very cool little cookbook!

Beautiful Savannah , Georgia...

So many of Phillip's photographs capture the charm of this wonderful destination. Although I have never had the fortune of visiting this city, his photographs give me the feel of a virtual visit.

Wonderful calligraphy items, Botanical art, jewelry...these are a bit of the great finds you will see at Botanicart! All the art is original and the calligraphy hand-penned in Susan's shop.

The first item that I found was the "Grandma's Arms" wall plaque. The illustration depicts Grandma Bear her cookie jar (always full, of course) and Grandma Bear with open arms inviting the Grandchild Bear for a Big Hug. This stamp is what started me on my journey to Collageartstudio. I searched the term "Papa Bear"(thats what I used to call my Grandpa) and this cute stamp came up as a result. I found this wonderful stamp, but I also found a shop full of beautiful items.

I borrowed an excerpt from Jeanne's shop profile to get a little more background on the lady behind the shop. In her own words:

The tag is from my her "Summer At The Beach" series and features a copy of a vintage photo of 2 bathing beauties, layered papers, both new and vintage, a variety of vintage braided trims, shells, button, beads, a touch of glitter and is finished off with pretty fibers and ribbon through the hole. The back is covered in blue scroll patterned paper and the word "SUMMER" - 1"x 3/4" - typed out on an old vintage typewriter. It is gorgeous.

The Green Rose plates are so pretty. They are a set of four 8-inch bone china plates by Royal Albert. These beauties are are green with magenta, pink, and yellow roses and rimmed in gold.
These would be wonderful to use at a tea party!

I have found a new favorite shop! Clayful Creations has the cutest clay sculptures! Becky also has some great non-clay items too!

Let's get to know her better and then we will explore her awesome shop! I asked Becky for some information about her, this was her response:

"I just LOVE polymer clay! I love to challenge myself with new ideas and techniques. Sometimes the work, sometimes they don't, but it's always fun trying. The smaller I can make something and keep the level of detail that I'm a bit obsessive about is what gives me the most satisfaction. I've always been drawn to miniatures and being able to make them myself and have people enjoy them is so rewarding. My Survival Kits and Poops and other "non-clay" items are something I do to keep me busy when I need to take a break from my clay. As much as I love working with it, after a big holiday or really busy time, a break helps to refresh me and gets my creative juices flowing. But, since I'm kind of a workaholic, I have to stay busy and I love graphics work so the kits and things satisfy that part of my creative side....that's about it for about me :-)"

She offers unique handpainted concrete, stone, terra cotta, and most recently, primitive wood items to dress up your home and garden. Everything Jamie paints is made with Patio Paint-A very durable water/weather/UV proof acrylic paint. All items will hold up in the harshest of conditions.

Before exploring the shop further, let's get to know some more about Jamie. I asked her for a little background information and this was her response.

"I am a mom of one little girl who just started 2nd grade. I live in sunny Arizona and have been here almost 8 years. I am originally from Southern Idaho and come from a crafty family. My mom has always sewed and done needlework and that kind of thing. My dad is an awesome woodworker, and can build just about anything. My mom is the one who started me off painting. She signed me up for a Tole Painting class at the College for Kids summer program at the College of Southern Idaho when I was about 10 or 11 and I have been hooked ever since. I have always had a strange attraction to rocks and bricks and patio pavers-they just look like a great surface to do something with. About 6 years ago I found a book of patterns for the Patio People by Maureen Hart and had one of those 'Ah-Ha!' moments. Soon I had painted a whole garage full of pavers and stones and things and haven't been able to stop. Initially I was just giving them as gifts to friends and family then started selling them locally and eventually wound up on Etsy. I love creating things and get grouchy if I dont get my 'crafty fix'! Luckily I have a very patient fiance who's been putting up with my craziness for all these years."

I asked which items were her favorites for Grandparents Day and she choose the same three I did! Her whole line of Patio People are a must see! The Grandpa and Grandma ones are adorable! Complete with "#1 Grandpa/Grandma" on the front! All of her signs are wonderful! She paints them for many occasions and themes. The "Grandmas are Moms with Lots of Frosting" is so pretty! It has a pretty cute saying but the purple and pink colors on it are so bright and beautiful. Everyone can get a chuckle from the "Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your kids" sign! Freckles and Friends

Since joining Etsy and meeting Cindi, I have wanted to feature her shop. It's purely coincidence how it happened for this particular occasion though. I am running some features for Grandparent's Day and was doing some searches for shops and items I would like to include. Thinking about my late grandparents I searched "Papa Bear" (what I called my maternal grandfather) and Freckles and Friends showed up. Cindi had created a perfect little bear family! Papa, Mama, and Baby Bear. I'll tell you more about them later.

First I would like you to get to know Cindi better. Here is a little about her in her own words:
"I have spent much of my adult life with either a pen in hand recording what I see and hear and feel or behind the lens of a camera shooting what lies in front of me. It wasn’t until just recently that I inexplicably found myself returning to my roots – my love of fabric and design and the desire to do something truly tactile. I applied the skills and experience I inherited from my Mom, which she and her sisters inherited from their Mom; and began creating simple, but soft and loveable stuffed animals. Although I doubt I’ll ever reach my Mom’s level of skill – who at 91 years young still sews every day and often without a pattern – I absolutely love what I am doing.

As a little girl I grew up on a farm and being somewhat isolated, my stuffed animals became my best friends. They were my own little family to nurture. And now with my own two sons grown, I find such happiness creating families and best friends for others – children of all ages. The unexpected joy really has been the stories that come back to me once my little animals are “adopted” and become a part of a new family. Who knew spreading happiness could be so easy? :)

But it always comes back to one thing. Family."

Her stuffed animals are awesome. Each created with the utmost detail and care! Of course my favorites are the Bear Family. Papa Bear is 14” tall (while seated); Mama Bear is 11” tall (while seated) and Baby Bear is only 9” tall (while seated). All seams are reinforced to hold up to a lot of cuddling. Papa Bear is a chocolatety brown color, Mama Bear is a pretty floral print, and cute Baby Bear is a soft baby blue. They can be purchased together or separately. Another favorite of mine is Lucy the Lamb. She is made of a soft pink and white polka dot fabric with a cute handstitched heart.

Freckles and Friends has just recently debuted a new line. The are the Wee Ones. These little critters are adorable! My favorite is Phineus the Wee Little Frog. He measures only five inches tall! He is machine washable/dryable, as are all of the Freckles and Friends creations. Every friend is delivered in their own sleeping bag (which doubles as a gift bag) and personalized gift notes are available upon request.

I love finding vintage treasures! I have found quite a few interesting books to add to The3Maries shelves.

"The New Baby" is such a cute book. The entire story of the new addition to the mouse family is told in pictures. Little and big kids can enjoy this one!

"Raggedy Ann and Andy and the Rainy Day Circus" is a charming Little Golden Book story about those two adorable dolls from our childhood. I recently discovered a small Raggedy Ann doll at a local thrift store and my ten month old daughter loves it!

"The Gateway to Storyland" is an awesome collection of children's stories. There are twelve favorites within its pages including: The Gingerbread Boy, Three Little Kittens, Chicken Little, and many more!

Cabinwindows and Northernlodge are two wonderful shops on Etsy that I am was so excited to discover, but let's get to know their owner Patti first.

I asked Patti about herself, here are some random facts:

"1) I am a Biologist in my real life. My dad was a naturalist before it was cool to be one-so we were all raised to be stewards of our planet-so that is one reason why I try to create or sell responsibly. I've been exploring using upcycled wools in my pillows (kitty love pillow, and Harvest series pillows on Northernlodge are examples. selling antiques or vintage things has less impact on our planet's resources.

2)I grew up on an island in the middle of Rainy lake. We lived in cabins with no electricity or running water-so simple has always resonated with me

4)I donate a large portion of what I make to our relatives on Pine Ridge Indian reservation-times are tough there."

I love the collection of vintage in Cabinwindows and quickly found two favorites. The Rose Vase with matching plate is simply beautiful. The detail and colors give it a true victorian feel. The Retro Tablecloth is a must for any retro decor. The turquoise, brown, and gold colors in the floral pattern are still so vivid.

Northernlodge features vintage, antiques, lodge, primitive, seasonal,and spiritual items . Many of the items here reflect Patti's love of nature. I simply love her "Where the Wild Things Are" 3pc. set! The set features a quilt, bib, and sleeper. The one picture has a wolf theme, but she can also make it with with almost any animal track requested-to include moose, deer, cougar, coyote, cat, dog, horse...you name it. This is truly a special handmade set! Northernlodge also has many beautiful afghans. My favorite is the Ecru boucle afghan. Just looking at it makes me want to cuddle up on the couch!

The jewelry at ChipmunkHollow is amazing. Jan has so many pieces to choose from. The way she uses metal in her pieces is truly unique.

I asked Jan to tell a little about herself and this was her response:

"Nine years ago, on my 50th birthday, I was visiting my daughter who lives in Hawaii. She had made jewelry for years....I never had. She had pulled out all of her beads and was working on a piece. She said "Mom....why don't you make something." I did. I've been hooked ever since.

When I first started out I did a lot of bead work but that was before it was so amazingly popular and everyone started doing it. Then a couple of years ago I took a class in metal crafting. I knew right away that I loved working with metal...sawing, filing, hammering,etc. Right now my favorite things to make are stamped jewelry. I love the process of coming up with ideas, then putting them to paper, then creating the actual piece. It is very rewarding personally when it all comes together and I am happy with the finished product.

I quickly spotted three favorites from her shop. The Two Souls necklace is a real attention grabber! This pendant has been hand sawed from 22 gauge sterling silver sheet metal, filed, stamped with a designer lowercase font, hammered, tumbled, lightly oxidized and brushed. Two birthstone crystals are included of the buyers choice. As far as team necklaces, ChipmunkHollow has a wide variety of teams. Being a big Green Bay Packers fan, the Packers necklace was the one for me! This necklace is made from two sterling silver discs, one measuring 1/2" which has the word 'GO' stamped on it. The larger 3/4" sterling silver disc is stamped with the word 'PACKERS'. It also includes two birthstone gems in green and gold. Lastly, the Oxidized Sterling Silver Earrings with Rhyolite accents are just beautiful! These are featured for pierced ears, but can be made for non pierced ears!

The center piece is made of polymer clay and the necklace strand is loaded with crystals and beads. This is sold as an adult piece. The Purple Dots Bowband was my next pick. This Beautiful Bowband has many layers of beautiful grosgrain ribbon attached to a stretchy purple lacy crotchet headband. I love ladybugs and so does my little girl so the Ladybug Bracelet was natural choice. Adorable featuring three different colored ladybugs and lot of colorful beads.

Badgirlvintage is one great vintage clothing store! They also carry shoes, purses, patterns, and fabric. Lot of good things to be found here.

First let us get to know to know more about Linda , the owner of this awesome shop. I asked her about her background and her love for vintage, this was her response:

"I have an absolute passion for vintage clothing. I look and touch a garment, and KNOW in my heart, it has stories to tell! Why a woman chose that particular dress: Was it her favorite color? Was it for a special occasion.? Was it for a first date or an anniversary, honeymoon, wedding, etc. ? And, the war time dresses...I've had at least 4 that I purchased with the story attached that it was worn to meet a homecoming sweetheart...coming home from the war. I even had a blue dress that was worn to get married in, then worn out to their wedding dinner only to be put away upon hearing the worst only 8 months later. So you see, saving these beautiful items, preserving them, and allowing someone to once again live in them and enjoy them, it's very special to me. I am truly in love with this store. I have always loved the fashions of the 40's and 50's. Linda has so much to select from! I spotted a unique 1940's Vintage Blossom Hat. It is black felt with sequin design and a felt bow on each side. Next was an Antique Victorian Dress. The dress is so beautiful. Yellow in color with black lace trim, it is a must see! My last find was a 1940's R and K Original Swing Dress. It is a beautiful brown and coral color. The dress features 3/4 sleeves and brown cord trim at the neck. A really great find!

From old photos, supplies, jewelry, to household items, it is here! I discovered three awesome items while browsing. First was this glamorous lavender felt hat. It was designed by Lilly Dache. Dache was the most famous milliner in the United States during her time. A lovely bright blue majolica sauceboat and plate grabbed my attention next. Made by Crown Devon, it dates from the late 1800's to the early 1900's and is in excellent condition with a fine even crazing all over. Lastly, I fell in love with a handpainted vintage floral sugarbowl. It has very unique handles and features a very pretty floral design.

If you are looking for a great wood works and
collectibles shop, you have found it at Dan's Wuud Werx and Collectibles. Dan is such a nice seller who really values his family and friends. Here is a little more about Dan in his own words:

"I am from Upstate Central NY, a 53 yr old young grandfather of two who loves to putter with buying and selling, which I have done my whole life. I actually went to 100's of auctions when a was a young boy with my grandfather. Pretty much where I began to learn "the art". The details of the floral design on it are stunning. Another great piece is the Helena Rubenstein compact with mirror. Again a piece with a beautiful floral design, this time featuring a nice blue color. Lastly, I found a great pin. It is a highly detailed design in a musical saxophone shape. Truly unique, made by Lang and made of sterling silver. Dan's woodwork is must see too!

He has so many fun vintage things in his shop! I had a hard time deciding on favorites! The first thing I choose was a bell. It is a 1984 Hallmark Elfin. It was the 6th and final bell in the series and comes with the original box. It is a white bell with red writing with an adorable elf climbing the side. Next is a 1912 Framed Trompe L'Oeil Embroidery Sampler. It is a print that is simply beautiful , a definite must have! Lastly there was a groovy Retro 1969 Resin Mushroom wall decoration. The colors are so vivid on this piece! Definitely different from the other mushroom pieces from this era!

I came from a long line of hoarders. I obsessively collect. I love the hunt of yard sales and thrift stores and finding those buried treasures. I should have been a pirate. I see something I like and think "Oh I can do something with that", and then it goes in a box into the attic for years never to be seen again. I also love the look of vintage clothing. I've never been one to look like everyone else, and vintage clothing definitely has that look of not looking like everything else. And let's not overlook the quality of vintage that you just don't find in todays disposable world. Unfortunately, I'm not vintage sized most of the time. I would be so sad at the great find I would have to walk away from. When I moved about a year ago, I had to somehow fit a 3 bedroom house with attic storage into a one bedroom apartment. I was at wits end on what to do with all my stuff. That's when I decided I would share my treasures and send them off to good homes that will love them as much as I do.

I recently had my first child at 34. Selling on Etsy has provided me with the opportunity to quit my job and have a nice extended maternity leave. I can't retire on my Etsy sales, but it helps keep the bills paid and one of us home with her. We're about to become a non traditional family, he's going to be the stay at home dad and take over the shipping and photography part of Etsy.

When I'm not scouring my rural town for vintage finds, I enjoy embroidery (I love Sublime Stitching), cooking, and gardening. I also enjoy painting with oils. Very abstract and minimalistic stuff. I've been told I should list my paintings and sell them, but what can I say, I'm an artist. I'm never completely satisfied. Plus, it's more my therapy than for money.

I'm a tattooed, pierced farm girl in rural Tennessee, who had purple hair, and enjoys punk music, raising chickens, gardening, and not being part of the crowd."

Angrykitty is a great person with a wonderful shop. She has a vast selection of all kinds of vintage items. From jewelry and clothing to jewelry and household items, she has it. It was hard to pick just three favorite items. First I choose a small but very charming item: 1975 set of Owl playing cards with case. The colors on these cards date them to the 1970's alone in my opinion. Great to use in an art project or to just add to your collection. A beautiful Rogers nightgown really caught my attention. Pale in color, it features a very feminine embroidered flower detail on the bodice with delicate white lace accents. Lastly, I found this wonderful and unique planter. It is a 1959 Holt Howard figural lady head vase planter. This is something that I had never seen before. The planter is a lady's head decked out with holiday decor. This is very whimsical planter that is a must see!

Vintage Feature #8 - Vintageonthemake

" A place for guys, for people buying for guys, and people who wish they were guys, to find vintage heavy in the man department.

Of course women can buy it and call it their own, but the over-all feel of the shop is geared toward what manly men do; eat, drink, smoke and work."

I think this is a great concept for a shop. I love the idea of being able to visit a shop and find something vintage my husband would love. As soon as I started browsing, I saw two things that my husband would love! First was the Old Chicago Lager Bar Mirror. It is great condition and is a great piece of Brewery memorabilia. Next was the Chicago 1983 Old Style Beer Stein. It is limited edition handcrafted for for the G. Heileman Brewing Company. The stein is in perfect conditon and is a person favorite of the shop owner, Morgan. The last item I choose just happened to sell from the shop yesterday but I decided to mention it anyway. It was a 1970's mint condition with original packaging FM/AM clock radio. The fact that the packaging was still with it is astounding!

I asked Morgan for a little background on him and his shop, this was his response:

"I wouldn't say I got into vintage at any point, secondhand stores, garage sales, garbage picking are just what I did growing up in Chicago and I haven't strayed much from that.

My wife has an Etsy shop(CrankHeartPony.etsy.com) and I would bring something home from where ever and a couple days later she would sell it. I figured with her selling all my stuff I should just open my own shop. It took about another year before that actually happened.

My largest collection of vintage goods is children books that I started hoarding after we had our first daughter. We have two daughters now and will most likely never sell any books."

Sweet Weekend Surprise!

I got a wonderful surprise when I checked my mail this weekend!
There was a package from Inkredible Creations. I had entered Beths' Blog Candy giveaway a couple of weeks ago and to my shock I was the winner of the giveaway!

My prize arrived in an nice bubble mailer. As I opened the mailer I discovered an adorable fabric gift bag! These are sold in Beth's store and the picture doesn't do it justice! Also enclosed was a wonderful handmade thank you note.

Getting to know Marie, right at the start we had two things in common:vintage and a family history of the name Marie. I got to know a lot more about her and her wonderful shop and I think you should too!

I asked Marie for a little history on how she got into Vintage. Here is her response:
"Vintage is fairly new to me. It began in January to help my parents to sell some of their collections. Seems that they saved everything from both of my grandparents' houses in addition to everything that they had. Found every card we ever sent them, even ones as kids...
Since they both recently passed away, we're trying to find new homes for everything. Dad had over 100 pieces of brass. Many of the items listed in the shop so far were my grandmother's or great grandmothers.

We just opened a steamer trunk that had been stored with my Great grandmother's clothing, wigs, hairpieces, and children's toys in it. Along with some letters. Finding lots of interesting things as we go through the house. Can't keep it all, so trying to find others to adopt the treasures."

There are so many unique items waiting to be "adopted" from MFVintage. I already have a few favorites. First is the silk Vera scarf. The green trim and the red floral are beautiful. My paternal grandmother collected bells so the vintage Brass Lady Bell was an item close to my heart. This is a pretty lady with a full skirt bell. She's holding a basket of flowers and her three-tiered layer skirt is imprinted with a flower pattern. So unique! MFVintage has a great selection of vintage jewelry. My favorite piece is the Purple and Green Rhinestone Flower clip earrings. There are purple rhinestones in the center of purple flowers, surrounded with smaller Aurora Borealis rhinestone flowers with small purple centers, and accented with green rhinestones, all on a green painted leafy base.

JazziesJunque is the perfect shop for the artist and vintage collector! Linda's shop has it all! She carries a great selection of vintage supplies. Everything from random vintage images to vintage fabric covered buttons. I also spotted some pencil drawings and some great vintage patterns!

A few things quickly became favorites from this charming shop. We all know the song "Winter Wonderland", Jazziesjunque has the sheet music from 1934! I thought this was an awesome vintage find! Since the sheet music already had me thinking about the holidays, the next thing I fell in love with was a beautiful brooch that would be perfect for holiday parties. With all it's colorful stones and faux pearls, it is quite beautiful! Lastly, I love glassware. Linda has a stunning vintage blue bottle that you can't help but notice. It would be great displayed on its own or used as a vase!

The first thing I notice about Vintagemarbles' shop is all the beautiful vintage jewelry. Georgia features many vintage items, but the jewelry is something to be seen! Two particular items grabbed my attention. The Coro and Rhinestone Bracelet with all its brightly colored gems is a stunner! The dainty and quite feminine Pearl and Rhinestone Flower necklace is so beautiful. One of the prettiest pieces of costume jewelry that I have ever seen! The selection of vintage jewelry includes it all: necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.

The gorgeous turquoise cups of the Jackson china really please the eyes. They are paired with a cream dinner plate. All designed and signed by Paul M. Cobb. A little added history: This china came from where Georgia's great grandmother lived in Falls Creek, Pennsylvania.

A few other facts about Georgia and her Vintagemarbles shop:

1) Her avatar picture is actually her grandmother as a child.
2) She finds most of her gorgeous jewelry at estate sales.

Vintage Feature #4 - TrunkofPrettys

One look at this shop and I am back to childhood again! It's like hitting the vintage toy jackpot!
First of all, there is a section all its own of just vintage Strawberry Shortcake and lots of it is in it's original packaging! One of my favorites of the Strawberry Shortcake collection is the mint condition Butter Cookie doll in original packaging with jelly bear from 1981.

If you love Pac-Man, Mindy also has multiple listings of items featuring one of our favorite video game characters. I found the glass and tumbler set especially charming. Last but not least, I guess I have a fondness for Holly Hobbie items and did not truly realize it. She has an awesome porcelain bell from 1976.

The inspiration and many items for this shop started with a wooden trunk Mindy's uncle made her. Her shop description tells this :
"Trunk of Prettys is inspired by a collection of neat stuff that I collected in a wooden trunk that my uncle made for me. Inside this trunk, which I guarded with my life, were fun things such as erasers, stickers, strawberry shortcake, vintage dolls, hello kitty (and anything kawaii) and many other wonderful pretty stuff. Let's get to know Anita a little better. I asked her to tell me a little about herself and this was her response.

"I am a nurse and just celebrated my 45th year of nursing. I have loved vintage and antiques since I was a little girl. My first memory of loving something old and beautiful is of some gorgeous red crystal glasses my Grandma had. She brought them from Poland. I came home from school one day and found out she threw them in the garbage and, unfortunately, the garbage men had come and gone. I am still devastated.
My husband and I scour thrift shops and estate sales. We get excited when we spot anything Bakelite, Fiesta or our beloved Pyrex. In my other life, I should have been a 1950's housewife, wearing a dress and apron and little heels.
I hope to retire in 3 years and we want to travel on the West Coast doing Antique/Peddlers/Flea Markets.

Beautiful, intriguing- These are two words that come to mind as soon as I visit AuntiePrincess' shop. There are some many vintage items of all kinds. From clothing and purses to jewelry and home items. The Sweet Vintage Day Dress got my attention straight away. With its sky blue color it is quite lovely. AuntiePrincess' shop does feature one of the most unique vintage finds for me yet, an Armadillo purse. This purse features everything on the armadillo-tail, legs, and the head. You have to see this purse! Daisies are one my favorite flowers and when I saw the Daisy Chain necklace it was love at first sight. These three items are just a small sample of all the wonderful things featured.

Good morning readers, I would like you to get to know a great vintage seller on Etsy. Meet Comfuzzled.
I asked her to give me a little background on herself. This was her great response.

"Vintage is kind of a family gig...when I was 14 Mom started working in the charitable second-hand store business. By the time my daughter, Maddi was born 10 years later, Mom was district manager for the thrift stores that supported the Union Mission. When I'd have to work, I would drop Mad off with Mom...even as a toddler, Maddi would spend most of her days among vintage treasures.

Mom retired in '05, but she is definitely the walking encyclopedia of vintage...my mentor and my closest friend. Maddi is 13 now and she has a great eye for vintage that is fun and that teens can relate to. So they are the Mentor and the Muse! I worked as a civilian in Iraq on 2 separate occasions and Mom cared for Mad while I was gone...so they are totally bonded. The beauty of Comfuzzled is that I'm bonding with them again after being far away for long periods of time. It really feels very full-circle!

It's funny...Mom can't believe how much some of these pieces are worth! We have so much fun researching...:)"

I,The3Maries, can relate to the 3 generations of vintage lovers. My mom and I take my infant daughter with us already when we go on our "treasure hunts". Comfuzzled's shop has many treasures itself. It was hard for me to pick three favorites for this feature. First I choose the Holly Hobbie Coffee Pot. It features Holly in her classic and rare blue dress. It is dated 1973. Second I had to pick a book, you know me! The Little Engine that Could is such a great book and this copy is from 1961!
The bronze salt and pepper shakers are definitely an eye catcher. They are circa 1960's and come with an underplate.
